Job Description

1.  JOB TITLE Technical Event Sales Executive
 
2.  MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB

The Technical Event Sales Executive will be responsible for delivering a sales strategy for the RASE events to achieve the budgeted income target for those events. This includes telesales of stand space sales, advertising and other saleable opportunities as detailed in the event budget.

4.  DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      Tasks/activities/performance

  • Compile, with the Technical Events Executive and the Assistant Director RASE Events, a sales campaign to deliver revenue targets for specific events
  • Deliver the sales campaign, selling exhibition packages via telesales (mainly) but including face to face visits with potential and existing exhibitors
  • Identify prospect exhibitors to target and selling benefits of exhibiting at the event(s)
  • Build relationships with existing clients, understanding their business and marketing needs
  • Build knowledge of the industry sectors in order to capitalise on opportunities in a constantly changing market
  • Maintain accurate and up to date sales records and provide regular revenue vs target reports as required by the Technical Events Executive, the Assistant Director RASE Events and the RASE executive.
  • Work with the Marketing Executive, Technical Events Executive and the Assistant Director RASE Events to identify marketing tools required to help realise the sales campaign and achieve income targets.
  • Keep up to date on the industry and help identify opportunities to expand and develop both existing events and future events.
  • Carry out general office duties efficiently, i.e. letter writing, producing mailings, database management.
  • Assist on other shows and events as required
  • Attend competitor events thereby maintaining relationships, expanding the database and prospecting for new business
  • Resolve exhibitor conflicts whilst on the telephone and onsite
  • Maintain a professional attitude with regard to all Society matters and at all times answer or re-direct incoming enquiries
  • Liaise with Finance dept to assist in credit control
  • Liaise with marketing dept to ensure they are up to date with exhibitors in the events and to plan and agree a sales contact strategy with support material
  • Work on site during the build up of the events, event days and during the break down of the events, liaising with exhibitors face to face.

      Key objectives

  • To deliver budgeted income on time to budget for specified events in line with budget and business plan agreed by the executive.
    Team/managerial/supervisory
  • To work with others in the team, specifically the Technical Events Executive, the Marketing Executive and Operations Executive to deliver events to the highest possible standards, controlling costs and achieving income targets.
  • Provide regular reports as required by line managers and executive on sales progress against target and help identify when action may need to be taken to protect the bottom line.

  • Work with all internal teams to enable the Society to capitalise on all opportunities which may arise and contribute to the achievement of overall Society objectives. To be flexible and able to support other internal teams as required.

5.  GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and improve competencies through continuous professional development. Participate fully in the Society programme for staff appraisal, review and development, including training
  • Work collaboratively with staff across RASE and other partner and like minded organisations.
  • Work to administration, communication, environmental, health and safety protocols and policies to ensure that organisational systems and procedures are implemented
  • Abide by organisational policies, codes of conduct and practice as described in the Staff Handbook and on the RASE Intranet
  • Support and promote diversity and equality of opportunity in the workplace
  • Treat with confidentiality any personal, private or sensitive information about individual organisations and or schemes or staff etc
  • Carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the post

6.  PERSON SPECIFICATION

      Essential

  • A highly motivated and enthusiastic sales professional
  • Demonstrable sales experience, ideally from the exhibition industry or from a business to business environment
  • Excellent telesales skills
  • Creativity and initiative in a sales environment
  • Experience of maintaining a database of existing and potential clients
  • Experience of reporting sales figures and understanding revenue streams
  • Proven history of building and managing customer relations
  • Diplomacy and tact
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Energetic team player who is self motivated
  • Ability to work independently when necessary
  • Working calmly under pressure with attention to detail
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages, Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point etc

      Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of the agricultural sector
