WELCOME TO THE RASE WEBSITE
Since 1838, The RASE has played a leading role in the development of British agriculture and a vibrant rural economy through the uptake of good
science, the promotion of best practice and a co-ordinated, impartial approach to wide-ranging rural issues. Today our work includes support
for business and social welfare in rural communities, education, and our famous shows and events.
Since it was granted its Royal Charter in 1840 the Society has aimed to support farming and the rural industries by spreading information about the best in research, development and practice. Today we still work to bring the best of British agriculture to the attention of our members and the wider rural industries through our shows, events, conferences and awards.

>RASE POSITION STATEMENT ON GENETIC MODIFICATION (GM)
The RASE Trustees, together with the Society’s Practice with Science Group, has issued a statement declaring its support
for ongoing research and evaluation of GM crops under field conditions. The statement acknowledges that concerns remain
over the technology but expresses the Society’s ongoing concern that lack of access to GM is resulting in UK and European
farmers finding themselves commercially disadvantaged in the global markets in which they must compete.
